Stamps with the theme Autosports
Various forms of autosports exist today, from car to go-kart and motorcycle to motorcycle speedway racing. Automobile racing began soon after the construction of the first successful gasoline-fuelled vehicles and in 1907 what was considered to be the first purpose-built motor racing circuit, Brooklands, opened in England. Before this many motor races were organized over various distances on public thoroughfares. In these early days automobile racing was extremely popular in France.
Motor car racing and rallying has a huge following throughout the world. Through motor sport, manufacturers have been able to test, develop and improve various aspects of their vehicles – including safety. Motorcycle racing and other competitive motorcycle events are also very popular.
